Norton is one of the most popular antivirus software in the world mainly because of its extensive internet security features. However, sometimes these features may cause internet issues and can prevent you from accessing the web. This article will give you an insight into two solutions you can implement to fix the problem to carry on using the internet. You can also call the Norton customer care number and speak to a trained representative to get additional help.

Solution 1: Temporarily turn off Firewall

The firewall is designed to protect your computer from online threats and to check the network traffic. However, sometimes because of the security rules of the firewall certain programs or website will be blocked from running on your computer. You can refer to the steps below to temporarily switch off the firewall and then check the connectivity:

  • Step 1: Go to ‘My Norton’ which is next to ‘Device Security’ and click open
  • Step 2: Select the settings windows and click the ‘Firewall’ option
  • Step 3: Open the ‘General Settings’ tab and look for ‘Smart Firewall’
  • Step 4: Toggle the slider beside the ‘Smart Firewall’ option to turn it off
  • Step 5: Click the drop-down menu to open the ‘Protection Alert’ dialog box
  • Step 6: Press ‘Apply’ and click ‘Permanently’ then press OK to confirm

Once you have made the changes open your browser and check if the internet is working. It is recommended that you open multiple websites to check if your access is not restricted to limited websites. If the net is working you can open the settings and turn on the Smart Firewall once again.

Solution 2: Run LiveUpdate and Full System Scan

If you find that the internet issues on Norton are limited to a specific website then you can use the Norton LiveUpdate tool to download and install the necessary software patches and security patches. Refer to the steps given below to run the tool and also perform a full system scan using Norton:

  • Step 1: Open and run Norton software using the ‘My Norton’ window
  • Step 2: Go to the main Norton window and double-click ‘Security’ option
  • Step 3: Click on ‘LiveUpdate’ and wait for the scan to finish, then click ‘Ok’
  • Step 4: It is recommended that you keep running Norton LiveUpdate until you see a notification indicating that your Norton product has the latest protect updates.

Once this is done you should restart your computer and perform a full system scan to fix any minor errors disrupt your internet connection. When the Norton scan is complete you should open your internet browser and check if you can access the web.

If you tried both the solutions mentioned in this article but still cannot access the net then it is possible that there may be a deeper technical issue with Norton. You should call the Norton customer support number and consult a certified expert to see if you can implement more advanced troubleshooting steps to fix the internet issues on Norton Antivirus.
